My baking journey

The beginning

My first bake

My very first bake was a lopsided batch of cupcakes I made when I was little — half the frosting ended up on me instead of the cake. They weren't pretty, but everyone ate them, and I was hooked from that day on.

Getting hooked

Baking every weekend

What really hooked me was the way a homemade treat could make someone's whole day. I'd remake the same recipe over and over until it came out just right — I loved the challenge, and I loved sharing the results even more.

My first cake for someone else

The first cake I ever made for someone else was for a family birthday. Seeing their face when I brought it out — that was the moment I knew I wanted to bake for other people's celebrations, not just my own.

Today

Sugar by Lelia

Now I make custom cakes, celebration cakes and cupcakes for people around Covington, LA — all baked fresh from my home kitchen.

What's next

My dream

My dream is to grow Sugar by Lelia into a real bakery one day. Every order I get in my home kitchen right now is a step closer.

Be part of the journey

Every order gets me one step closer to that little bakery — and I'd love to bake for your next celebration.
